University Archives

Our Mission
Established in 2006, the University Archives (HKUA) serves as the final, official repository and memory of the University of Hong Kong and the HKU Family.
Our mission is to
-
collect and manage all valuable University records, regardless of formats, through the University-wide Records and Information Programme (RIM) to preserve our longstanding history as the first University founded in Hong Kong since 1911;
-
select and collect records of our distinguish alumni, reflecting on their university lives;
-
act as centralised Archives Repository and Records Centre with bespoke records management system, security and environmental control in place to protect our irreplaceable records from deterioration, damages, vandalism, fire and natural hazard;
-
provide transparent platform for researchers, historians, staff and students to access to records produced by and relating to different functions of the University;
-
raise awareness of our identities and sense of belonging as part of the HKU Family;
-
support teaching and learning using our own primary source, including administrative files and research materials, produced by all Faculties, departments, professoriates and senior staff members.
If you have questions about records transfer to the Archives from your offices within the University or donating your personal papers, artefacts, or manuscript materials please contact us at hkua@hku.hk.
