Access Policy

University Archives provides access to the collection of both official and unofficial records for public who wish to research on the history of the University of Hong Kong and its academic impacts on the history of Hong Kong and Asia. 

Open records are out of closure period set by the University whereas closed records are still within the closure (embargo) period set by the University or donors.

Open Records

  • records which are appraised, selected, preserved and opened for viewing without restriction

Redaction

  • records which are appraised and certain contents are not eligible for viewing due to sensitivity, redaction is applied (partially open)

Closed Records

  • records which are appraised, selected, preserved but not eligible for viewing due to sensitivity of the contents or legislative restriction, e.g. personal data
